Cookie Notice

Last updated: 26 June 2026

This Cookie Notice explains how Synnea uses cookies and similar technologies in the Synnea application at app.synnea.no. Synnea uses only cookies and browser storage that are strictly necessary to run the service or that remember your preferences, together with error-monitoring storage used for diagnostics. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Read this notice together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What this notice covers

“Cookies” are small text files that a website stores in your browser. We also use similar technologies, such as local storage and session storage, which let the application keep small amounts of data in your browser. In this notice we refer to all of these together as “cookies and storage”.

This notice covers the cookies and storage set when you use the Synnea application at app.synnea.no. Some of these are set by Synnea itself; others are set by the service providers that help us operate the application, as described below.

2. The cookies and storage we use

The table below lists the cookies and storage Synnea relies on. Exact names, and the lifetime of provider-set entries, are determined by the relevant service provider and may change without notice to this document; where that is the case we have marked them as set by the provider.

NamePurposeTypeDuration
sb-… (authentication)Keeps you securely signed in by storing your Supabase access and refresh session tokens. Without these you cannot log in or stay logged in.Strictly necessarySession and persistent — the access token is short-lived; the refresh token lasts until you sign out or it expires.
synnea.orgRemembers which organisation you have selected, so the application shows the right workspace when you return.PreferencePersistent — about one year.
ThemeRemembers your chosen appearance (light or dark mode).PreferencePersistent.
NEXT_LOCALERemembers your chosen language or locale.PreferencePersistent.
Error monitoring (Sentry)Used for diagnostics. May store a session identifier in browser storage to correlate errors. Session replay is masked and is only recorded when an error occurs.DiagnosticAs set by the provider.

3. Categories of cookies we use

We group the cookies and storage above into three categories. We do not use any cookies outside these categories.

Strictly necessary

These are required for the application to function — in particular to authenticate you and keep you signed in securely. The application will not work correctly without them, so they cannot be switched off from within Synnea.

Preference

These remember choices you have made — your selected organisation, your light or dark theme, and your language — so the application behaves the way you expect each time you use it. They store only your settings, not your identity for advertising purposes.

Diagnostic

These support error monitoring so we can detect, diagnose and fix faults in the service. They are used only for reliability and security diagnostics; any session replay is masked and is recorded only when an error occurs.

4. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies

Synnea does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or third-party marketing analytics. We do not sell or share your data with advertising networks, and we do not build advertising profiles. Because the cookies we use are strictly necessary or are genuine preferences, we do not show an intrusive consent banner.

5. Managing cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you view stored cookies, block cookies from particular sites, and clear cookies and site data. Refer to your browser’s help pages for the exact steps.

Please note that blocking or deleting strictly necessary cookies will break sign-in and core features of Synnea — you will not be able to log in or stay logged in. Blocking preference cookies will not stop the application working, but it will reset choices such as your selected organisation, theme and language each time you return.

6. Changes to this notice

We may update this Cookie Notice from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies and storage we use or for legal, technical or operational reasons. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date shown above. We encourage you to review this notice periodically.
